We went here last Sunday January 15, 2012 to celebrate my 36h birthday with my family and my in-laws. Parking is not a problem they have a lot of space. My side of the family were ahead and we were seated in the low table where you have to remove your shoes and eat Korean style on the floor.

The kids were even having a great time playing because no one was eating at the other side of the table. A big TV was at the center.

The serving and the price is ok we ate a lot and the barbeque brisket is so tasty and you can easily eat an order. The appetizers were free and you can ask for a refill. We especially like the caramelized potato balls, the sauce tasted like barbeque and its really different. Overall the soup is spicy, serving can be good for two and parking is not a problem. We all like the food that we ordered.

Recently I have read a lot of reviews on the promo of several group buying sites to name Ensogo's Dermstrata and my personal experience with Metrodeal's Body Accent.

It seems true that they tried to reduce the price of the service and also reduce the amount of shots for the IPL. I used to have the IPL hair removal way back when it was still expensive and new in the market. It costs me 3,000 pesos for both underarm and I had two sessions with acceptable result. I remember that they performed multiple shots in my underarm that's why I have less underarm hair. Then recently, in a Sunday show, Salamat Doc that features Dra. Vicky Belo and the topic is IPL hair removal, I have seen that they used multiple shots and then it dawned on me that when I availed the Metrodeal's IPL removal, I had a total of 4 shots! I asked the lady who performed the IPL and she explained that the hair that was targeted with the light will also be removed.
After that, I really plan of asking her to take pictures of my underarm to be proof that 4 shots is not effective in getting rid of the hair.
Sometimes, these promos are deceiving especially for beauty services.

Kiara loves SpongeBob, everytime she watches it, I find it hard to call her, I would try to cover the TV so she would not see it, and she would cry.

I know that she is too young for that being 3 year old and I would like to believe the result of the study that "suggesting that watching just nine minutes of that program can cause short-term attention and learning problems in 4-year-olds."

According to this study, previous research has linked TV-watching with long-term attention problems in children, but the new study suggests more immediate problems can occur after very little exposure - results that parents of young kids should be alert to.

We always try to make sure that we are there to explain to Kiara the content of any show that she watched. Though we parents are doing that, Kiara's yaya would just let her watch the show with no interpretation or interaction.

I am also worried with Kiara's vision or eyesight because sometimes she watches too close to the TV monitor.

Children should always have parental guidance whenever they watch TV, even Spongebob.

Basic Trust versus Mistrust

During infancy, an anxious or an ineffective mother can bring mistrust to her child.

How? Imagine, a newborn babies, crying, helpless, has poor visual acuity, cannot move around, cannot sit down yet, all the signal the baby gives is his cry, and the mother would not get the baby immediately. That must be a scary experience.

But if the baby cries, and there is help and assistance, there is a calming sound, "Baby..baby"", that would soothe the child and the child will learn to trust so the next time when he or she cries, the mother will be there. The child then learns hope. The infant's first social achievement is TRUST, there is a willingness to let the mother out of sight without due anxiety or rage because the mother consistently responds to her baby's hunger with appropriate and affectionate feeling.Some new mothers feels anxious because they do not know how to hold or calm their baby. But the more you let your newborn cry the more he will know that he or she should cry more.

The Muscular-Anal Stage: Autonomy Versus Shame and Doubt.

The next stage in your child's life would then deal about the child's wanting for autonomy. Because the child has developed his muscles and is capable of sitting, standing, running, climbing the stairs, jumping etc. The child more or less has some control over the environment.

We bought a traveller potty-trainer which is always in the car, so whenever Kiara feels like wee weeor poo poo she can do it. We never had any problem with toilet-training since whenever she has to go to the bathroom, we stop whatever we are doing to support her and she already established a schedule for this activity which is around in the afternoon. Her cousin was not too successful because he has to wear a diaper and poo poo in the diaper, he never learns to sit in the toilet bowl..

Where to go in Bohol: Chocolate Hills

We went to Bohol last March 8-11, 2011 taking the Cebu Pacific flight to Cebu and then taking a ferry that would take us to Tagbilaran Port. It was a good day, I was worried weeks before we left since it was raining here in Manila but the weather is good in Cebu and Bohol. There were some rainfall at night but we were already indoors by then.

It is better to take a direct flight to Tagbilaran than taking the Cebu flight, we experienced a delayed in our flight so instead of boarding at 11am we boarded around 12pm. Imagine, we were with Kiara and we have to check in two hours early. If our flight is at 11am we should be there by 9am meaning we were already up by 6 or 7 and leave the house by 7:30 am. It took us the whole day of March 8 just for travelling. The journey was too tiring. After landing at Cebu, we have to rush to the Oceanjet Liner because we have to be on board the 3:30 pm schedule. It took us 30 minutes to reach the Cebu port from Mactan airport. Taxi fare costs 150 pesos.

The Oceanjet ticket costs 820 each for adults and free for children below 4 years old. This ticket is "libreng balik" so we used the ticket to go back to Cebu port.

Upon arriving at Tagbilaran, we were picked up by the hotel transfer of Le Pensionne de San Jose, located at San Jose, Tagbilaran City, this is cheaper compare to checking in at Panglao Island or Dauis or any beach area. This is your choice though.

The next day, our first stop was Chocolate Hills. It was a good sunny day, you better start early because it gets too hot in the afternoon, so we were picked up by our tour guide, Tatsky at 8am after eating our breakfast. We didn't know our hotel serves continental breakfast, we have baon pa na tasty bread, anyway we do not eat breakfast naman.

The travel to Chocolate Hills took at least 1 hour, it was a long ride, Tatsky is an experienced driver so we never had any problem and his vehicle is a blue Sportage, good for small groups like us. He is very informed and conversational, making small talks so the journey is not so boring.

The view at Chocolate Hills is breathtaking. The wind on your hair, your face, your skin and the bright blue sky makes you feel less depressed and less stressed. See our smiles?

I Like Scrubs

I often dreamed of working in the medical field and sometimes imagine myself as a doctor or a nurse. I imagine myself as a doctor wearing the white coat but then I would be engulfed by the robe and I think I will not look good in it. Next, I imagine myself wearing a "nursing scrub" that usual light blue shirt that is similar to the uniform of bus conductor and jeepney drivers. Still, I think I won't look good in it.

Then I found this site that sells uniform for nurses and I actually wish I could have one. Right now in our university, we are in the process of designing our uniform and the colors available in this site for the scrubs are light and fashionable. Though we are not in the lookout for scrubs, but I have never seen these type of scrubs before. Medical City, St. Luke's Hospital and other hospitals should consider this site to order from them.

The usual scrub that I see are prints of cartoon characters, this may look harmless to children but scrub top on this site convey a casual professional look. The scrubs are similar to the popular medical soap "Scrubs" or even the series "House".

We watched Pinktober at Hard Rock Cafe Makati featuring Nina. It is my first time to dine and enjoy the sounds and sight of Hard Rock because somehow I find it intimidating It is so American, if Nina was not performing that night and rely on their sounds, I don not think I can relate with the Rock songs, Irwin can relate because that is his kind of music but then I found some of the music good like cranberries and Beatles. With the likes of Bon Jovi and Guns and Roses well I also like it.

Food is great with ample sharing for two. The drinks are so different! I love them, I want to taste them all, I never like alcoholic beverages but the kick and high of drinking alcohol was a fresh new experience for me.
I will definitely go back..

John Lloyd and Shaina Magdayao: A Case of Vaginismus

This afternoon, we have been discussing Sexual Disorder under Abnormal Psychology class and I was surprised to hear the news from my students on the incident that allegedly happen to these two popular showbiz personality. They told me that these two were copulating and that John Lloyd's penis cannot be removed from the vagina of Shaina. (we are talking medical terms for the private parts).

This is a case of Vaginismus in women, where the muscles of the vagina tend to tense involuntarily, meaning it is not willed, and a cause for this is fear of penetration. Maybe it is the first time for Shaina that she has performance anxiety or maybe fear of getting pregnant which is typical among young adult like her.

I started the class by writing on the board, What is your greatest fear about SEx? and this incident made them temporarily fearful about sex.

Allegedly this is true kahit na sinabi na di totoo, because I have students who has relatives working in the hospital and they were witness to this incident.

anyway, I've seen that Shaina has a new soap, maybe this is just a tactic for publicity.

Feeling Low: Is This Depression?

I've been feeling low at the beginning of this month, probably from a lot of backlog because we were away for one week and went back with a lot of work. Kiara is sick with fever for 2 days now and I hope it is just a minor illness. Been losing sleep but I do not feel the need to sleep. I do not feel sleepy, maybe I am manic depressive again. Maybe I am self-disgnosing.

NOw I yawned but do not want to sleep. I have no energy left in me. I just came from a vacation but my body still crave for a vacation.

Mothers need vacation!

Since Kiara was born, I've been losing sleeping time. No one to blame.

That's why I wonder, how did my mother raised 6 children, when I am already tired of one?

My mother raised us full time, I envy those stay at home mom who are with their children.

It's always a conflict for me to stay at home and be with Kiara or work, it is between your career and your family.
I need the money and the feeling of accomplishment, but with all these expectations,
in return, I feel stressed out and feeling all kinds of somatic complaint.

I know what is good, I am dreaming of a life in the province or somewhere cool like Tagaytay or Baguio,
not the city life. Stress free...

Socializing Babies

It's been a while since I last entered anything here. There is so much thing to do and finish and start again.
Time flies by so quickly and then I see Kiara as not so small and not a baby anymore.
There was a time when she wouldn't smile or laugh, and I thought of socializing her by enrolling her to Gymboree
or even mainstream her to all the kids in the neighborhood.

But now she's changed, she can laugh and make fun and say a lot of things.
I guess it is just a phase or a stage in babyhood that I can't accelerate or push her to do the things her parents want her to do.
Now she is displaying the behavior I dreamt of like singing, dancing and counting..
nature has its way of surprising you right?

I received an email last June 24 informing me that Kiara was selected, though i do not know the criteria, I was excited.. I know Kiara is cute,, just like what every mother feel. i was excited on that day, i even want to have a pedicure for myself and had the gap clothes cleaned in the laundry shop and even had it pressed.

I even loaded the car with a thousand peso gas and paid the toll fee and then had to dine at Don Henrico for the Casting Call at Festival Mall. In short, I spend a lot for this and was a little disappointed when I see the crowd of babies and kids.

You know, it's like Kiara was special or so I thought then I learned of this statistics and I was correct at my hunch that they tried to include almost everybody. Make everybody feel special to even go to a a very far place, it will totally help the Festival Mall and i am sure there are a lot of kids who were wearing Mossimo clothes. Though it was not a requirement that they be in a Mossimo clothes. But I am sure they had a bit of earning from the mothers who wanted their baby to be models. I was fighting the urge to get a Mossimo shirt for Kiara, secretly I had that wishful thinking that I want at least for Kiara to be considered but then again I know it is really hard to get Kiara to do what we want. Kids are kids.

I do not want to accuse Mossimo, myfameandforture.com and the Festival mall of deceiving us mothers, because we came there at our own free will and we did not pay for anything. It is a valid model search and I just want to wish those selected luck and hope next time we can attend earlier and Kiara will learn to smile. She will be older then..

It was fun though seeing the mothers and the kids, prepping their children. Though it was also not fun seeing mothers asking their children to do what they want, like I've been in the waiting area and one mother was yelling to his son " sit, sit sit!" just like a dog..

Vieux Chalet at Antipolo Rizal

Father's Day was celebrated at Vieux Chalet in Antipolo, Rizal. There were 9 adults and 3 kids, the total costs of the food costs 6,000 plus inclusive of tax.

When we got there and about to order pizza, they told us, there were no more pizza. So take a look below at what we ordered.

I did not get a picture of the Shrimp Ravioli in tomato sauce and the Fetuccine Alfredo.

Overall my rating will be a 2 out of 5 because of the cost, the cleanliness and quality of the food.
Cost is very expensive, Cleanliness, there were lizards at the dining area, cockroaches near the piano where the kids were playing and black ants in the restrooms, we had to call the attention of the staff to eliminate the black ants. It was everywhere, if you use the toilet it will crawl to your legs!
As for the quality of food, there was nothing special in the food, can get the same taste of the pasta and the entrees at a cheaper price in Mom and Tina's or any hotel.

Maybe I would recommend it to people who are on a date but if you are eating as a group, it is not worth the experience and the money to eat there.

I will not go back there, pictures lie, reviews lie, see and try it for yourself. But just like what I said or commented in the other blogs, we all have our individual differences. I may sound like I am releasing a bad review but I was not satisfied especially when they announced that they have no more pizza and I was craving for one. They reasoned that they were jampacked earlier and all the pizzas were ordered.

Reading With Kiara

The picture shown above was taken during a mall tour of Geronimo Stilton of Scholastic Books at Market Market in Taguig City.

Ever since Kiara was young, I keep on buying books for her to see and "read" books even if she can't read yet, she can recognize pictures especially of animals, shapes, colors and places. She will be turning 2 years old next month and what a milestone for her if she really could read.

Starting to read at a very young age can be rewarding because even if she cannot say the words but with repetition of familiar words she can remember things and words. One day we were surprised when she can recite the alphabet from A to E and we were even more surprised when she can count alternatively from one to ten. She also knows some basic colors like red, green, blue and yellow. I would like to think that this is because of our early interventions in her reading.

We just have to wait for her to pronounce the words properly and when she finally starts school I know she will be a bright kid.

Statement of the PAP on the (Mis)Use of Psychology in the Current Electoral Campaign

he Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP)* considers some recent occurrences in the current electoral campaigns as an affront to psychologists and to psychology as a discipline and profession. In particular, partisan individuals and media practitioners have not only presented to the public fraudulent psychological reports, but have also made inaccurate statements about different aspects of the practice of psychology and the nature of psychological functioning. These irresponsible actuations have dangerous long-term effects on efforts of Filipino psychologists and other mental health professionals to address the psychological well-being of Filipinos. In this regard, the PAP would like to respond to and clarify some of the issues raised as a result of these political events.

First, the PAP denounces the release of the results of psychological tests or assessment to media and the public at large. In accordance with the PAP Code of Ethics, the results of psychological tests or assessment cannot be released to the media or the public or to any person other than the client. Any reputable individual psychologist or psychological organization ensures the practice of confidentiality and that the results of psychological tests or assessment are only shared with the client. Psychologists take reasonable steps to ensure that information to be disclosed will not be misused, misunderstood or misinterpreted to infringe on human rights, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Second, the PAP denounces the suggestions made by politicians, media practitioners, and others to force political candidates to take psychological tests or assessment. In accordance with the PAP Code of Ethics, individuals cannot be subjected to psychological tests or assessment without their informed consent. Any reputable individual psychologist or psychological organization ensures that informed consent is acquired from the client before conducting psychological tests.

Third, the PAP denounces the insinuation that people who see a psychologist or any mental health professional is “abnormal” or “permanently debilitated”. The PAP condemns the insinuation that depression is a permanent disability; and the use of words like “abnoy” , ‘sira ang ulo’and “may diperensiya sa utak” to label individuals. These irresponsible statements and similar acts perpetuate a profound lack of understanding of psychological concepts, of the nature of psychological problems and dysfunctions, and of the nature of psychological health and wellbeing.

The PAP would like to stress to politicians, to media practitioners, and to the public at large that seeing a psychologist or any mental health professional does not make a person “abnormal”. Seeing a psychologist means ensuring our mental health and psychological wellbeing.

My neighbor has a yellow Civic which they customized to look like a race car. I've been wondering for a very long time what is that black thing on the hood called. I really thought it was just a form of style or "arte". I never thought it could serve a purpose for a car. So they call it a bug shield, now I know.

I am not into cars like Irwin, who knows what that is. I am more interested in the car colors maybe because I do not know how to drive.

Just last Sunday, we were at Megamall and Kiara was looking at some kid's motorcycle and it really crossed my mind, that my baby girl will be driving her car when she grows up. Just this morning I thought of buying my own car that I can bring to work, and then later Kiara can drive it too. Well, she will be old by then including me.

Call Center Agents and AIDS

In a recent study on the Young Professional's Lifestyle in Manila and Cebu by UP, results showed that from the sample of the respondents there is a high risk of acquiring AIDS. AIDS is usually transmitted through sharing of needles when you are doing drugs and through sex. There is an increase of this disease in gay men and there is a perception that there is an abundance of gay men in call centers.

Though the reaction of the call center agents on HIV/AIDS virus is negative, because they claimed that not all call center are sexually active. The lifestyle of the call center may have encourage the active sexual lifestyle. If you acquired AIDS it will not be covered by a health insurance.

As much as possible, not only for call center agents, for all people in general, it is safe to be monogamous and not have sex with a lot of partners. People with AIDS usually do not know they have the disease unless they are tested for AIDS.

In a study by PGH, doctors voluntarily requested call center agents to be tested with AIDS and from those who responded to the free AIDS test, they concluded that from those tested only a few are HIV positive.

Still this is not enough to be calm when it comes to the issue of AIDS.
With all the available information on AIDS, the government should also make a nationwide campaign to prevent this disease.

Did you watch Claudine's soap on TV last Saturday? After giving birth, there was a humor that she had a liposuction performed on her arms. And she really has slim arms but I think she forgot asking the doctor for liposuction to the rest of her body.

Whenever I see her commercials, I observed that she was displayed from the face down to her chest, because the rest of her body especially the hips seemed very wide and the clothes that she wears always gets attention to the upper pert of her body because she now has a bigger lower body. You can notice this especially at the side view.

Women who gave birth like Kris Aquino who was very vocal and is an advocate of plastic surgery admitted having liposuction, tummy tuck and even breast augmentation, how about her nose, her nose seemed fake too?

What seems to be common to these artists? Of course, not all artists started out as very famous, some of them like Kris even starred in B movies. Movies that are low on budget, or they may start out as extras in film, or a side kick, I remember Kris Aquino and Rene Requistas in a movie.
She was ugly back then, right? Hahaha! She might read this and get mad, so that is my opinion, meaning, she was not a star material, not very popular back then, well, popular because she was the President's daughter, but look at her now. She is aspiring to be the next Oprah.

And with the money that she earns, she can change the way she looks anytime she wants.

Thinking About Your Retirement

In the place where I used to live, there is a very spacious and big house that was for sale last year for 12 million pesos. According to the "Chismis" or grapevine it was bought by the city councilor who lived in our area.

If I really have the money I would buy that house. For me living in that kind of house is feeling like Cinderella. It looks like an ancestral house. I've been there once only when it was used as a meeting place for our church. It was a splendid house, with big spiral staircase and a center fountain and spacious parking space that can accommodate at least 10 cars.

If only the owner know how does a reverse mortgage work because they would not have to sell that house.

If only they were able to know some Information on reverse mortgage we could still enter that house and it will not be owned by other people I do not know.

I just hope that the next owner will also sell the house and that I own more than 12 million pesos so I could own that house and lot. It will at least be a home for my parents who are already retired. It would be great for my dog, Cassie. I can also have a small school inside the area because it is spacious. A pre-school is a good idea because there are no pre-school in that area yet.

If I own that house, I would have checked for reverse mortgage FAQS so I could preserve the house and not sell it. It was a dream house for me.

There is Something About Lola Nene

Lola Nene, aged 88 is Irwin's lola from his maternal side. Lolo Jose is a US War Veteran who died several years ago and left her with a pension plan. Yesterday, I watched Kris Aquino showing off her new condo unit with a new set of furniture and appliances. The last time I've seen her condo was the year I got married in 2005 because I've seen her Chinese sofa set in fuschia pink and chartreuse. That gave me an idea for my wedding motif. Now when I watched the show yesterday, I cannot seem to see the old sofa set. It seems that the Chinese tradition is true, that when they moved to a new house, they would leave everything behind and buy everything new unless they have a self storage or they placed it somewhere else.

Now, I wonder what will happen to my own stuff when we move house? Right now we are living with my in-laws and all my things are in a box or in a cabinet. I wish I could also have a self storage for all my things. I wonder where I will put all my tinker things that I do not want to dispose. Would you imagine I have three cabinets full of books and papers that I used for my work. I can't dispose them but they are left untouched for months. I have a cabinet full of old clothes that I can't get rid of because maybe I hope I can still wear them.

Even my refrigerator is filled not with food but my things because we are not using it as a ref but a storage area for Kiara's food, nope it is not turned on.

Having a self-storage really is a good idea nowadays..

Manny Pacquiao and Las Vegas

You know Manny right? He is a famous boxer, world class boxer. He is always in the US especially in Las Vegas. I wonder, just like in the movies, does he arrive at the boxing arena in a Las Vegas limo? Who drives him around the area? Wow! It would be a thrill to see Manny going down a Limo and he, wearing a coat and a tie, maybe not specifically for a boxing match, that would be very awesome.

I also wonder about the politician that are watching Manny's fight, do they hire a limo company in Las Vegas? I often wonder about that. I also wonder and imagine myself, wearing a very expensive gown, with a very comfortable high heeled shoes and fully made up with diamonds on my neck and escorted by... Brad PItt... Amazing! I would love to have that dream. Brad Pitt would have towered over me. But you know what a limo car can give you, it can give you a sense of pride or even pleasure in riding one, and when you get down from it, it may seem that people will look at you and you are the center of attention.

I wish this fantasy will somehow come true, in case I visit the US, I would go to Las Vegas and get a Las Vegas Limousines for maximum exposure and pleasure.

I can jsut iamgine myself as Vivian in Lovers in Paris, this time it would be Lovers in Las Vegas... yahoo!

I Need to Finish my Thesis Fast

I am on rush to finish my thesis for the graduate school, more so when I learned that my co-teachers are already on their defense stage. I panicked to know that. I've been searching now for textbooks that are related to my topic which is burnout.

Burnout can be found in Organizational Psychology books or even books on stress.
I also need books on Human Development, Abnormal Psychology, Clinical etc.
And I cannot find cheap textbooks, they are all very expensive.

The books that I am using are all old, like for example, the history of Psychology book that I'm using was published in 1987 and that was how many years ago. I am on search for used textbooks for sale even if there are minimal mark, some are good as new, as long as I can save some money because I buy them in several titles and topics because they are cheap. You can get at least two books for the price of one book. It is that cheap and practical.

If you are going to look at my shelf, there are a number of textbook on display. I have two Social Psychology books, two theories of personality and a lot of introduction to psychology.

I need it especially now that I am also writing a book for Psychology 101. I need several references for the book and I would rather have a real book than a virtual one.

I am Dreaming of a New House

These past few months have been a mixture of ups and downs, from not getting enough sleep to arranging a lot of requirements in school like grades, my clearance, my very late thesis in the graduate school and last but not the least, the pending land title that I’ve been constantly following up at the Pasig Registry of Deeds.

I need the title to be completed because we plan to build a six-door apartment as an investment. My mother was the one handling all the requirements, as much as possible we do not want to give any “bribe” or “lagay” in Tagalog in exchange for faster service.

Speaking of service, I heard of a US company that offers a car title loans where you can have an automatic cash and use your car title as Collateral loan. Just give them your car title and you can have an easy cash in case you have an emergency and you can still use your car.

If only the people in the registry of deeds are as fast as those people. Oh, I would surely love them. If only I am living in the States, I would like to live in Los Angeles, California so I could be near with my relatives. Kiara Likes to Play Hide Inside Our Car

When Kiara was five months old, we attended a Trick or Treat event in a nearby village so we took a ride in a tricycle. We were only three minutes inside when she was crying uncontrollably. We have to stop in a nearby store and I tried to walk carrying her with the tricycle trailing behind us. I was with my mother-in-law and Miko. They stayed inside the tricycle. When she stopped crying, we again rode inside and she cried again. My mother-in-law took her and they tried to hail a cab. She was still crying. So we ended up walking to the village.

That was before, so we thought that she cannot ride a tricycle, we always bring a car whenever we go.

She loves to crouch in the back seat hiding at the back of the driver's seat. It is a hassle because the car mats that Irwin bought was sliding whenever Kiara would crouch. The car mat would end up in a bundle near the front. it was too short I guess, it was not fitted to the floor of the car.

I have to remind Irwin to get a new one. This time it should be fitted for Kiara's safety too.

Caregiver The Movie

Do you remember the Caregiver movie of Sharon Cuneta? A lot of people can relate to that movie especially people from the Philippines. Filipino caregiver have been going around the world working for foreigners, taking good care of them, providing for their needs and sometimes they end up as their friends.

One of my favorite scene in the movie was when Sharon was caring for an elderly person and he was a bit irritable and difficult. Of course in real life and in the movie, anyone caring for an elderly for the first time will be faced with a lot of adjustments. Sharon's character was one who is not giving up easily and tries hard to be friends with the old man. In the end, she was rewarded with a book that was given to her when the elderly died. It was a touching and moving scene.

I also remember a relative from Seattle who was here last Christmas who was talking about a seniors housing Seattle. It is very convenient for the Americans. It is not that they will be neglected, they are taken care of in that institution.

I have a grandmother in our house, she is Irwin's grandmother and she was with us because she had an operation. We were always busy and we cannot provide for her other needs like having a short talk. She lived in Pampanga and there, she has a lot of older friends which constantly talks to her.

Irwin also has a friend whose elderly was in a seniors housing New York and one was in seniors housing in Los Angeles. Irwin worked in New York around year 2001 and he was in Yorktown Heights just outside the city. It is a good place for retirement he said especially for the elderly.

Everybody grows old, if you can think of your retirement and is still able, you can buy a beach front, a property in one of the provinces or retire in a nursing home. Some people just do not want to be a burden to their families so they opt for a nursing home.

A Truck Experience

I remember my boss telling me about a story of how they were blocked by our school security guards because it has been a standard procedure to check every vehicle leaving the grounds of our school. She was complaining because their car was a SUV pickup with a truck bed cover covering it. Imagine the hassle of taking it off and exposing an empty back.

She was angrier the next day because it is the same truck that they were using. It is not that they do not have another car, but the rest were in repair shop because it was damaged by the typhoon Ondoy and their SUV was spared.

She was embarrassed more because her husband was the one driving the car and he has to go down and open again the truck cover and expose it. What's really making them angrier is that they were hanging like in a parking lot cue and thay have to remove the truck cover.

The cover more or less looks like this, I got this picture of tonneau from this site. Having a truck cover would be beneficial because you need to secure the things at the back of your pickup truck and this would shield the things from sun or rain.

Anway, the procedure only lasted for two days. Sometimes you get lucky, some days you don't.

Increasing Your Traffic Through Web Directories

Aside from having a very attractive blog with interesting and original content, you can increase your site traffic by enrolling your blog in a web directory. These are usually free directories that list your blog or website and enroll it under a relevant category. There are several guidelines in different web directories, some do not permit adult content or site that contains only affiliate links.

This blog is enrolled in some web directory that somehow increase the traffic of my blog. There is the Philippine Web Directory exclusively for Filipino oriented website.

I also tried Link referral, and Stumpedia which I can attribute as a cause to a surge in my traffic last month.

The very popular Yahoo Directories was the very first directory before the search engines become popular. Yahoo directories still remains as one the biggest and best organized web directories.

When I was preparing for my wedding, Weddings at Work provided a web directory of all wedding suppliers and it served as a very helpful guide to soon-to-be-bride.

Directories are not search engines. Directories rely on websites being submitted to them; then a team of actual people looks at the site to categorize it and check its quality and relevancy before adding it to the directory in the appropriate categories and sub-categories.

Some popular directories are Yahoo and DMOZ or the Wikipedia can also pass as a web directory.

I attended a Spedexpo last year because we plan to enroll in a Special Education Program and apply for a certificate. I've been looking for some articles on autism to gather some information on the disorder. I also had an article in my blog on autism because of my fear with my baby girl as having autism but of course she does not have the disorder.
In the seminar, the mother of the autistic child was crying because her autistic child was a first born and she has many hopes for her child. She provides the child with all that he needs. The child is lucky, some autistic child came from poor family and having an autistic child can sometimes put you in
debt.

I've read this article on autism which explains the Miller Method of handling children with autism. This is the first time I've heard this method and it was not mentioned or included in the seminar that I attended. I also never had a chance to read them in my Abnormal Psychology books.

This is an informative article for those who are currently caring for an autistic child. It explains the Miller Method and it talks about two kinds of autistic children—those with closed system disorders and those with system-forming disorders, each having a different system needs.

Reading the article at first was tedious, it has a very small font and it was lengthy. I was looking for some sort of an introduction to the topic but the writer heads on to the topic right away. I was kind of lost but get the hang of it in the middle part.

Teaching these special children requires a lot of patience and understanding of their condition because not all the technique may work in a particular child because even if the children have a disorder they are still unique.

This is the interior of the restaurant. It is L shaped and the bar or the counter/cashier is located on the right side, so if you plan to eat here sit near the counter. If you sit in the area where we sat, chances are, you will not get noticed. They looked understaffed to me because I cannot see them because they are on the other side.

The restaurant seemed to lack customer service because we have to call the attention of the waiters because they are missing or in the other side.

With regard to the food, Irwin ordered a burger steak which costs 155 pesos with java rice and vegetable plus add 25 for a refillable ice tea. Ice tea tasted good. The burger steak tastes ordinary. I ordered the parmesan chicken that costs 160 pesos and the pesto with garlic bread.

My parmesan chicken tasted good too, the chicken was tender but it lacked seasoning. Irwin liked what I ordered, he don't like the burger steak.

So will we try it eatng there again. Maybe not.

How to Avoid Text Scam

Last Sunday, my sister was scammed thru text. I have a brother living abroad and my sister received an unregistered number and thought that it was my brother. The text goes "kumusta kayo dyan, malamig dito" and she replied to the text and the next text she received goes like this " ang mahal ng load dito, gusto mo magbusiness, yung 500 na load dyan doble dito". My sister believing it was really my brother went to buy 5,000 worth of Globe prepaid card and sent the pin to the number. She never verified with my brother if that was really him. They even bought the sim cards from a seller and even cautioned them that there are a lot of scam similar to that. They never doubted the person texting her ( she was with my mother).
So when I met them that Sunday and I learned about that, I immediately checked the pin code if it was used, we were lucky to load 2,000 worth of load to our cellphones, the 3,000 load was already used. It seemed that the scammer was also loading the pre-paid cards during that time. It was a race against time reloading the prepaid cards.

Lesson learned. Do not trust unknown text especially this season of Christmas.

I have an aunt living in the United States who has several property here in the Philippines. We are currently managing two apartments and a house here in the Philippines. We would collect the rent and inspect the house for any repairs or maintenance. Little did I know that this method of inspecting and looking for tenants, managing properties are full blown business organizations in the United States.

The practice of Real Property Management in the United States is a big business. Home owners can have the opportunity to have their property managed by these firms and all you have to do is sit down and wait for collection. They will take care all of the administrative stuffs and hassles of doing the maintenance and collection yourself. They will look for tenants for your property and also perform a credit and criminal background check of the tenants.

How interesting. I have a friend who do just that, she has no permanent job and all she has to do is look for tenants, even sell real estates and property and other stuff. I ever I win in the lotto draw I would buy some property and enrol it in a real property management firm. That will be easy for me.

One of the benefit of living is Pasig is being close to a lot of Warehouse Sale. Yesterday since I went to my parents house we passed through the advertisement of Gingersnap for their annual sale.
So this morning, I went there at 9:30 am and I already see a lot of warehouse "raiders" with their chosen gingersnap clothes. Ang daming magaganda napili na nila. I was already within the area at 7:30 pero hindi pa ako nagpunta, sayang talaga. Anyway, I still got some bargained merchandise na magaganda rin.. Agawan lang talaga. Super dami, if I can't control myself, I would get them all.

Relief Goods in DSWD

I got these pictures from ella's blog and she gave permission to use these pictures to show the world what is happening to the relieft goods sent to the Philippines and distributed by the DSWD.

You can find the whole story in her blog and I have some additional information that would verify the allegations. Of course I do not know if these are true because these are second hand information only unlike Ella who really took these pictures and made her own interpretation.

Is it true from what I've heard that Crocs and Havainas made some donations and it was replaced with fake ones?

How true are the news or perceptions of my students whom I asked to interview Ondoy victoms and they claimed that relief to Baranggay were not distributed equally? Barangay captains would give the first round of relief to their relatives and the remaining were for the barangay constituents.

I even heard that tale by the boatmen when we were still going to Pasig during the floooded days.

There was even a comment from one government employee who claimed that it was their practice to distribute "undistributed" goods to their office and friends and other government agency.

That was our topic during dinner last Friday when we heard the news about the undistributed good.

If there are any imported goods distributed how sure are we that the people are getting them?
We are not really sure. I would rather believe that it was being hoarded and will be given as a Christmas gift or give away to government employees.

But in fairness to those who are really giving reliefs, we are one who are relief goods recipient and thanks to those people who continued to give relief good. We have extra soap, toothpaste, rice and even pail! That is very useful. I for one will be glad to receive one of those.
There are a lot of news in facebook and the net who continues to post news and pictures.
I admire them who took their time to help our contrymen.

Eat and Go - The Atrium Megamall

We tried eating at Eat and Go at The Atrium in Megamall. We ordered Roasted Chicken for me and Fish Scaloppini for Irwin. The two main entrees' cost 299.00 with drinks and 2 side dishes.
Your choice for a side dish consists of pasta marinara, corn and carrots, roasted pepper rice, and baked beans.

The interior looks brand new but the food was displayed in the counter. it looks like an expensive canteen where you can order your food and place it in a tray. Kenny Roger's chicken style. I was hungry for a burger that time and want to eat a burger but we ended up eating there.
I might try their London pies and but will never try the other entrees.

Do you want to be a Filipino?

This article is in response to a written blog of one of my student.

If I am asked that question if I want to be a Filipino, I would want to be a Filipino but do not want to live in the Philippines, I guess I would rather earn money somewhere and spend it here.
I am starting to loose hope in our country, but maybe I am too close-minded to say that.

It is just so frustrating, yes we have a lot of good things, and bad things too. I am thinking of my baby Kiara on what will happen to her when she grows up and expect a not so good country.

I've been trying all my life to do what is right, what is good and avoids evil at all possible cost but in a country where corruption is open and there is a large gap between the poor and the rich and there seems to be no way of reversing or balancing all of these. I have no hope anymore.

People are forgetting their values. Even children do not have values. I was raised in a Catholic School where we are taught to greet every teacher that we meet. In our school, students pass by their teachers. They ignore them. I do not know where they get that attitude. People cheat, they are dishonest and mistrustful. Sometimes I have a feeling that it is not safe to live here anymore.

I have been working for almost 14 years now and I am not getting anything from the government. I would rather maybe work in European countries even if the tax deduction is high because you will benefit from it. Here, I never get anything, I pay the tax, I have a GSIS deduction, PAG-IBIG etc. but I get nothing in return.

It is only here in the Philippines where squatters live by the river and eventually have their own homes somewhere because they are relocated I do not know if they paid any tax in their lives.
If you do not give to your neighbors people will label you, "I want to say to them' "get up and work", "do not beg". "Huwag kang tatambay dyan".

If I have a little "hitler" attitude I would say to "clean" the city of peddlers and squatters and those who do not do anything worthwhile in their lives.

They will just add to the problems of our country. Maybe when that time comes, when the proper distribution of wealth and benefits will "benefit" us at last.

When these social problems are solved that will be the time when we will feel the worth of our labor. When would that day be?

Ben's Burjer

When in Mandaluyong you can try out Ben's Burger. I do not know if this is the burger owned by Benjamin Abalos. I seldom see this place full of customers but it is still there.
When I tried it, I thought that I will never go back. The burger tasted so ordinary.
And it is a little expensive. This one costs 65 pesos and their soda in can is 20 pesos.
I liked the good burger even more or brother's burger.
Hoowahh... I suddenly want to eat at Brother's Burger...

Ondoy, Ondoy

This picture was taken September 27, 2009, Sunday at our school. We had to stay overnight because we cannot get out or go home due to the heavy rains and flood, we do not have any TV with good reception so we have no idea what is happening outside of the school. This is the water in front but now it has subside.
One of my student even took a picture of me riding a make shift boat. But I do not have that picture yet.

This is the chest deep water in Eusebio Avenue, I really cannot imagine myself walking in flooded water that deep but I was able to walk past my waist. Hehehe. I guess it is too much for me. This was taken when we were riding the boat with Miss Andal.

No Yaya Day

I was absent yesterday and took care of Kiara. Her yaya left Sunday for her usual day off but did not return because there is a problem with her daughter. No yaya day today still. So Irwin took a leave of absence. It is really hard to get a yaya for babies. One office mate told me to really treat the yayas right because they are the ones who are left to take care of the kids. Who knows they are hurting your child or loving them or teaching them anything you wouldn't teach your child. It is very precious to see a loyal yaya, so if you have one, treat them equally but then it is hard to delineate the role.

Even if you treat them right it is not a guarantee that they will not leave.

It feels good to see our leaders agreeing in something that they believed in. Noynoy looked liked a reluctant leader, he seems to be a shadow of Cory, Ninoy and Kris.

For me he seemed indifferent to what was happening during his mother's wake and the entire necrological service. He was crossed arm and in Psychology this behavior is a defensive mode. Maybe he was protecting himself from the pain of loosing his mother, or maybe that is just a front to show that he is brave and unaffected. He was not emotional. I never see him emotional. Though I never really know the man, I believe that the blood of Ninoy and Cory runs through his vein and there was no opportunity for him to show what Noynoy really has to offer. That's what's missing the opportunity for him to grow and self-actualize his potential.

Maybe there really was no challenge for him in the Senate, as I've said he was reluctant. but maybe his candidacy for president is his opportunity to prove his worth as a descendant of Ninoy and Cory.

He may look weak and indifferent, he was someone who wants to stay in the background and was being pressured into running. But I know that every human has a capacity for growth and to reach his or her potential.

I believe in him and want to support him in his candidacy. I was moved to tears when I was watching the live coverage. Yes, the Filipino can. I as a mother just wanted a country where my child can move freely and safely. Where Kiara will be secure and not harmed. Where the people who serve our country take into consideration the welfare of the people.

Then I thought again, maybe Noynoy was coñio and he will support only those he know and his relatives know. Then I thought again, that was very far from the Cory and Ninoy that I know.

Anyway, I want to give him a chance.

Baby Brianna " a child abused"

I've seen this video in one of a random blog's that I checked and I was moved by what they did to this baby. I was watching this video and I can't help but feel angry and fury to the parents of this child. It seems that the parents were still young and do not know how to take care of the baby. She even dared biting the child. Maybe baby Brianna's parent's were on drugs.

They were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sometimes you wish for a child and then found in the news that in some other part of the globe, a child is being abused.
I remember Kiara now and starting to miss her, they went on a trip and I did not go with them because I have a lot of work.
I've been to busy with work and keep on forgetting that a child is only a child once. They grow up fast.. I cannot make up for the lost time.

Now when they arrive, it will be late and she will be sleeping and tomorrow I will go to work again until Saturday..
Decision to be a stay at home mom is still being decided.

Genie The Deprived Child

I asked my students to watch this YouTube video on Genie, who was a child raised in isolation by his father. She was 13 when she was discovered. She could barely stand and so thin and frail. She cannot speak. She was locked up in a room and was tied to her potty chair. When she was brought to the hospital she had callous in her buttocks from sitting too long in the potty chair. She was like a blind child, who seems to experience the world for the first time.

This topic on Genie were the result of our class discussion on Social Interaction and the importance of interaction in the survival of humans.

Babies and children in particular need interaction from significant others; their parents, siblings and even relatives and neighbors. It is their basis for the formation of their personality. Through language babies learn the everyday rules of social interaction. They can also get cues from facial expression and the tone of the voice.

Children needs warm, love and care especially the love coming from the mother. That is why massage therapy is important in pre-mature infant. There was also a study that a mother's voice is recognizable by an infant because the baby prefers the mother's voice than any other voice.

As a mother, I always try to talk and interact with Kiara. There was even a time when I suspected that she had autism when she was still a baby because of her lack of interaction. But it was just another anxiety attack on my part.
Now is she laughing and smiling and making everyone around her happy. She is my little sunshine.

I just can't imagine someone or some parents hurting their children.
All children are dependent on the adult to provide for all the needs and it's not all money. What is even more important is the love and care that you can give to your child.

This is the famous Silliman Hall in Silliman University in Dumaguete City. We went there August 12 to August 15 to attend the Psychological Association of the Philippines National Convention. It is good to see psychologist gathered and convene with it's theme “Character Strengths of the Filipino: A Positive Response to Current Challenges.”

It is my first time to attend an event like this, I was excited to see my old teachers and famous personality in Philippine Psychology like Dr. Lourdes "Honey" Carandang, Regina Hechanova, Allan Bernardo and others.

Attending the convention inspires me to do relative researches in psychology just like their presentations. I always keep in mind my daughter, Kiara, that I want to make a better place for her when she grows up. Psychologist has a role in country building and I would really want to make a positive change in our country.

The influence of the recent death of Cory Aquino was manifested in the convention, since the theme was more on values and strength, she was depicted as a person with character and really an inspiration. A true leader.

Going there made me a little broke, hehehe, because of too much Silvanas and Sans Rivals which is a delicacy in the city. I will miss the sweets and the gentleness of the people.

I used to remember this song, and I still memorized some of the lyrics and I know the melody.. Very touching, I am one of those who experienced the Edsa revolution when I was a kid, my uncle who was a soldier lived in Camp Crame and I remember seeing them (my cousin, Beng) that day wearing their pambahay because they walked from Crame to Pasig. They have canned goods which was given by the people in the street. They left their house in Crame fearful there will be a war.

I have seen this controversial Rorschach article and immediately read it. I have taught Rorschach, I have the Exner's Comprehensive System (unupdated), all of my old students have the manual and the interpretation, they have the cards.

Though the Rorschach is a test of personality, it is really difficult to score and interpret. Now I am taking Projective Technique in the graduate school and I have to prepare a battery of test which includes the Rorschach but I am against it. I may not finish graduate school.

Kiara Encounters Jollibee for the First Time

Since our university President declared a holiday today, we were able to have a trip to Starmall this afternoon with Kiara. This is her second time to see Jollibee (the figure outside the store). The first one was when she was about 5 months old and she has more comprehension now at her age. She was very excited and almost slipped because she was rushing to get to Jollibee fast.
She started to walk unassisted at 12 months and 2 weeks. She can now balance herself, walk up the stairs and run slowly. She is starting to get independent. She doesn't want anyone holding her. She is a small me, she smiles a little, a little shy with strangers, not the type who gets the attention of many. Though attention is cast her way. I know that toddlers can be a little KSP but Kiara is not one of those toddlers.
She is quiet in her own ways. She looks pretty and serious. Oh, but I do not want her to grow up like me, I was a shy girl and needs confidence while growing up.

Just yesterday morning after giving her a bath I discover that:

Kiara's Got a New Haircut

...and it was not done by a professional hair stylist for baby. The crime was performed by Ate Auring, our housekeeper. Kiara has long curly on the end hair which is longer than mine. Now it is much shorter than mine and she looks like a baby boy not a baby girl.

Pretty Girls, Special Girls, Lucky Girls

These are Kiara's Ninangs living in the States. They stand less than 5 feet. They are American citizens of Filipino descent. Their father is a surgeon and their mother is a nurse. They have their own clinic and their family is rich compared to the average American family. Tawny the eldest, is 18 and had her debut in a fancy hotel, very intelligent and received an award from their State as best in Science student.
Pretty, Lucky, Special Girls. I am glad they are living a rich life in America, I you are short and living in the Philippines, it might be ok because there are a lot of short people here but in the States they are the exception. I am also glad they are intelligent because they will not be bullied. I am glad they were able to retain their Filipino values and they are very sweet and kind cousins.

Will Kiara also grows up to be as smart and pretty as them? I hope so.

I Love the Powder-Citrus Scent

My current perfume is the Gucci Rush. I still have my old Hugo Boss Red and Benetton HOT. I have some Victoria Secret cologne and a Johnson's Baby cologne too. Sometimes I like to wear perfume that is designed for Men because they sometimes smell cool and fresher. I like the CK collection, and the scent of my male college classmate (hehehe) which until now I do not know the name but remember the smell. I like Issey Miyaki scent, I would rather smell them from others than wear the perfume.

I like a Scent that smells like you've just taken a shower. There are some shampoo scents that I like lavander but I do not like them as perfume. Clean scent and citrus, vanilla and melon and cucumber. Even the smell of raw cucumber refreshes me.

I do not like flower scent, fruity (some) and those perfume that is too strong. I once had an Oscar dela Renta perfume and I only wear it once and got an allergic reaction. I got colds afterward.

I like baby cologne too. My baby uses Zwitsal products and it smells good.
I do not like berries smell but I like the smell of grapefruit.

I wear perfume depending on my mood and where I am going but since I have a baby I have to choose my perfume well because I do not want to suffocate Kiara. For everyday scent, I would prefer Victoria Secret brand and some local colognes are good too.

If money is not a problem I would like to have different sets of furniture for every part of the house.

Kiara's room

An ideal furniture for kids room is something soft so the baby will not get hurt from bumps, scratches and should be accident prone. I would choose soft and colorful furniture maybe something like a bean bag. But you cannot sleep in a bean bag I suppose? I can't find a picture of what I like in the net but this room decorations and the furniture are also good. A cabinet for the baby's thing and her bed.

Our bedroom

This Chinese bed is one of my dream furniture. I wish I could have one. It reminds me of the old Chinese movies that I've watched. This is ideal if you have a house keeper, but if I do not have one, I would rather choose a simpler bed. For a working mom like me, I could only clean during weekends.

This is a simpler bed which I could keep. It looks modern and classy.

I found this sofa set for the living room area and it is good for relaxing and unwinding. We have a similar one at home and I couldn't ask for more. Maybe a bigger one. The sofa is not too soft nor too hard and you could always lie down because it is long unlike other sofa that is only good for sitting.

Dining Area

For the dining area I want a simple and modern design. I do not want fancy style because those furniture are confined to large houses and require a lot of space.
I could upgrade to one of these designs maybe when Kiara's grown up.

Since I have a baby in the house, my taste depends on what is good for her.
But if I have a lot of houses, I could choose a lot of furniture. Take for example, a rest house maybe in Tagaytay or Baguio needs rustic furniture which is really natural and homey . Something comforting for a cold day while sipping a hot chocolate or coffee.

For city living, I like the minimalistic designs more like Zen type. I want squares, circles and simple shapes and design. Not too big nor too small.

Excess Weight and Feeling Good or Bad About Yourself

I found this article in the web and it is very timely for me because I am one of those people who have a weight problem and want to get back to shape. This article talks about the differences in attitudes of men and women on excess weight, the effects of excess weight on health and psychological well being. According to this article, men do not take excess weight as seriously as women did until later in life; people view their ideal body image from magazines especially media; weight gain affects health which predisposes a person to a lot of health problems; and losing weight with as little as 10 pounds can work wonders on the self-image of a person and it also shows the opposite of weight gain which is weight loss to being thinness or waif-like.

As a review to this article, I agree to most of the content of this article but this should not be generalized. This article lacks citation for the researchers the author was mentioning. He failed to include other means of adjusting to an excess weight.

For me, not all excess weight has a negative impact on a person. I for example have been trying to loose weight, I tried to drink herbal tea, bought a twist and shape to help me exercise, downloaded a hip hop abs video and tried to diet but still no significant weight loss. But it has no negative impact on my psychological being. I am a little sad, I couldn’t wear my pre-pregnancy clothes but it is a good excuse to shop, right? I keep on thinking, “I will loose weight” so I do not want to discard my old clothes, but when I was able to accept my body image, I am happier. I personally know a lot of people who are overweight, my husband for example but they do not have a negative self-image. As you can see in the Philippine magazine, they do have heavy-side model but they look good.
I bought a book, “What You Wear Can Change Your Life” by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine and according to this book, you have to know what looks good on you and a change in clothing can definitely change your attitude about yourself. I read it and tried it and people around me said I’m blooming with the excess weight and all. I would welcome any day a loss in my weight but I am taking my time.

N1H1 Virus in schools and other matters

The N1 H1 virus is really scary. I just watched the news tonight on Channel 2 and there are 13 new cases of Influenza A in our country. Four of them came from De La Salle University. There was another case in FEU, a student who came from Japan. Where could these people be getting the virus from? The country where they came from or they get infected while inside the plane? It is really scary, I was brought to Medical city this morning because of gastrointestinal infection, I've been having diarrhea for four days and I was scared it might be amoebiasis. I am still lucky there was no bacteria instead they found out I had UTI. I was also dehydrated and loss body fluids, low on potassium and high count of white blood cells. They prescribed I take Ciprofloxacin which if ever can cure the bacteria in my urinary tract, respiratory and gastro-intestinal.

So if ever I contracted a virus from the hospital this morning, the antibiotics should be able to combat the infection. I was scared because while waiting at the lobby, I saw a girl cough and she was looking sick, then when I had a nap this afternoon I feel a slight warm almost feverish, well, false alarm, because now I am sweating.

I hope to go back to work tomorrow, today is suppose to be my first day at work, I was re-assigned to the HR department in Training. I was in charge of the Registration booth this morning, but I failed to come. I was prepared for this event, I was searching for a new blouse I could wear today, yesterday but I wasn't able to buy one because I was having diarrhea still. Grabe..
It seems every time I was excited on something, I get hospitalized.
Last year in August, it was my cousin's wedding and I bought a blouse to wear to that wedding but I had a miscarriage. Last year May, it was my college friend's wedding and I bought a blouse but I was admitted because I was having contractions, now I was again admitted this time, with no blouse. ;) It is really hard for me to get excited.

What I Really Want to Do

What I really want to do is to be a full time mother to Kiara. I do not want to work not because I do not like my work but I like being with Kiara best. I am a workaholic and just like what the Bible says " you cannot serve two masters" and if I have work, I tend to prioritize it more than Kiara. Then I would feel guilty for not spending time with Kiara. Being a teacher is full of hard work, you have to prepare for your class and then even if an ordinary office girl finishes her work in the office, a teacher sometimes has to bring home work. I was able to manage my time when Kiara was smaller. I do not bring any work at home because I can't find time to do it. I do it at school but I am pressed for time, the quality of my work is compromised and I do not want a half-baked work. I can be an effective mother but not a good teacher and I think I have to let go one and I want to let go being a teacher.

I know myself, I've been dreading this time, before Kiara was born I was contemplating of leaving work or asking for a re-assignment. I would accept a job as a telephone operator that does not require a lot of thinking. Then maybe by 5pm I could rush home to be with my baby. Leaving all the worries behind not thinking of doing any quizzes or exams. Even if I am with Kiara, I keep on thinking of all the unfinished things to do and I can't be happy at the moment.

This is my big problem. ME. I am my own problem. I guess I have to concentrate on Kiara when I am with her and not think of anything else. I really have to make her a priority, sacrifice some sleep if I want to be an ever effective teacher, like what I am doing, doing my class work when everybody else is sleeping.

Or maybe change my style of teaching. I am very factual, knowledge, knowledge. I would try to go for higher-thinking skills and then maybe require them for a to-die for exam or project. ;) I will have to adjust myself to the changing times. Every time, every effort counts.

I promise to be at home right away and not stay late at school.
I promise to teach Kiara everything she needs to know, especially how much we love her.
I promise to be a good mother.

It's KIARA'S birthday next week June 13, Saturday at McDonald's Metropolis at C5, Libis. Oh how time flies. Kiara's grown so big.. Me too. I haven't lost the pounds I gained when I was pregnant with her.
