Chicken Wings Recipe

I got this recipe from Yahoo Food and wanted to try this one out. One of my favorite food is Buffalo Wings, we use to order it at Outback Steakhouse, they also have it at OJ's in Libis, they have it Pizza Hut, each has their own version my favorite though is Wings from Twister at Eastwood Cinema but it is now gone and can't find it anywhere else. They have this sweet and spicy taste that I can't find in any Buffalo Wings.
The ingredients of this recipe looks like it will taste like the one's in Twisters and the procedure looks very easy.

Ingredients:

1. 14 scallions, coarsely chopped
2. 14 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
3. 3/4 cup chopped, peeled fresh ginger
4. 10 anchovy fillets, coarsely chopped
5. 3 tablespoons crushed red pepper
6. 3/4 cup light brown sugar
7. 6 tablespoons soy sauce
8. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
9. 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
10. 2 teaspoons kosher salt
11. 1 cup pineapple juice
12. 14 pounds chicken wings

Directions

1. In a food processor, blend the scallions with the garlic, ginger, anchovies and crushed red pepper. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, oil, black pepper and salt; blend. Add the pineapple juice.
2. Make small slashes on the meaty parts of the chicken wings. Spread the wings in 2 very large roasting pans and pour the marinade on top. Rub the marinade into the wings. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bring to room temperature before roasting.
3. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Arrange the wings in a single layer on large, oiled, rimmed baking sheets; pour any remaining marinade on top. Roast the wings on as many shelves as possible, rotating the pans, for 1 hour, or until the wings are deeply browned and crisp. Serve piping hot.

Yield: 12 servings

ABS CBN and GMA 7 Channel War

Stop It! Stop It! Stop It! I hate hearing anything related to this two TV station fighting over who is on top of the rating. I am developing an allergic reaction to any words, any commercials, any news on TV or radio related to the fight.

I seldom watch the television but if I watch it I choose Channel 2, so I am a Kapamilya. I only watch Coffee Prince on GMA after that I turn it off. I am better off watching CSI, Prison Break, Pushing Daisies, Monk, House and others. I even rarely watch the news or read the newspaper.

According to Dr. Amelita de Guzman, our professor in Socio class, these people or establishment who promotes customer service are only after one thing. PROFIT! If they really care about their client, about their viewers you can see it in their programs. Even if they are the least in the rank if they really care then they are worth every hour or minute that we watch them.

So what is connection if the Lopez group owns Skycable? Is there a relationship to their claim? That Channel 7 has a bad reception in a cable TV? I am not so sure because we have a cable and it's not Sky and the reception for Channel 7 is also bad.

I may be bias because I used to work for the Lopez group, maybe I am saying this out of loyalty but I know that I am keeping an open mind. I just don't accept any claim, any accusation without a real basis. That is how a scientist and a rational person thinks. I am a rational person, I am a scientific person. If the rating of GMA is really tampered, then it is tampered, if after all the tampering and still GMA is no 1, so be it. I'll still continue watching ABS CBN shows.

So If you asked around, majority may seem to be watching GMA shows, but the count in a barangay is not enough to generalize it to all. Maybe those watching ABS CBN program are too rich or too unapproachable to install an AGB Nielsen cable monitor so they are already out of the list.

If you randomly select a barangay, random means anyone has every chance of being included and if you randomly pick a rich household, are you going to insist that you install an AGB monitor? They would not do that, they care too much about their privacy, they do not want anyone monitoring what they watch.

I have this theory that those who watch shows on ABS CBN are more refined, more professional, more calm than those watching GMA 7 shows. In short, people watching GMA shows are (sorry for the word), "jologs" some people do not want to be called this name. I may be generalizing, that is a fault. Sorry if you are a Kapuso.
The shows are really not appealing to me. Oh maybe, I also watch Jessica Soho but not regularly.

THis is just a theory ok, no hard feelings.

Paypal Withdrawable to Philippine Banks

Just found out the news that you can withdraw your Paypal money to Philippine Bank. I checked my paypal account and indeed it has added this feature. If your money is more than Php 7,000.00 the cost is free but if it is less, you will be deducted Php 50.00.

I got this information from pinoymoneytalks .

Before you can use it you need a 9-digit bank code. Maybe I should increase my money first before trying out this one. Some banks are not yet available since they launch it only this week. Better wait for others to try it first and see if they could really withdraw their money to their banks.

Lea Salonga's Blog at Multiply

Lea has been my idol for years, well aside from Sharon Cuneta, I was joking my students that I used to like Sharon now I like KC. I've overgrown Sharon but never Lea Salonga. I am posting her entry here and I took it from this site.

This is Me by Lea Salonga

I am 36 years old and a work in progress, but I've got a pretty good handle on who I am.

I speak with honesty and frankness, sometimes to someone else's consternation. I shoot from the hip and have no censors; you'll know exactly where I stand. I do try to phrase things delicately when facing a sensitive issue, but for the most part you'll get me unfiltered.

I've wined and dined in finer places, but am more comfortable with an ice cold beer in my hand and my fingers greased from beer food. I'm loud and happy when I'm intoxicated, and am never belligerent. I would much rather avoid confrontation than to launch an all-out war, but am not afraid if the latter is necessary and called for. I speak softly and respectfully, and I see no need to hurl expletives, especially with people I love (except when they're being total and complete jackasses).

I'm fiercely loyal to my loved ones, and would put them first over any business associate. My family comes first before all else, excepting God. I'm not above hearing juicy gossip, but I won't ever spread it around as I wouldn't want the same done to and about me.

When someone wrongs me, and I see that person in a public setting, you can bet that I will ignore rather than greet. If you don't like me, then leave me the hell alone. Chances are I don't like you either.

I abhor unprofessional behavior and any violation of this business's spoken and unspoken ethics. No one has the right to behave like a diva. I demand excellence from everyone I work with, but want everyone to have a good time too. I'm a great partner, and will never steal a scene from someone else, as I'd rather make him or her look good. Although I'm great fun to work with, I do my job with the utmost seriousness. I will get things done. I take pride in my work and strive for nothing short of perfection with each attempt.

This is me.

I see myself in her except for the talent part, I also speak honestly and do not care if people like me or not. I do not want to be a pretender, what you see is what you get and most of the time they do not like what they see because I do not kiss ass. I would treat any president of any company like I treat my father or like I treat anyone else so people in high places or is very status oriented would find me disrespectful.
Just like what Professor Higgins said in Pygmalion, "treat everyone like you were in heaven where there are no second class citizen and no one is above or below you, all are angels." I believe in equality and I hate favoritism of any kind. But I guess, we are all human with weaknesses. We fall for money, for power, for fame for anything that would satisfy our needs, so favoring someone more I guess is not a crime, it is just merely an exchange of needs. You get what you need sacrifice something.

Cyma Greek Tavern at The Ledge Shangrila

Since it was my birthday last Wednesday, we decided to try out this restaurant at the Shangrila Mall. We have a lot of choices actually. There is Claw Daddy, Tender Bobs, Crustacia, Penang, Sumo Sam and on the other side there is Cocorama, Wok Express, a Vietnamese Restaurant etc. We ended up dining at this Greek restaurant because it was the only restaurant that is overflowing with guests.

So we reserved our seats and when it was our turn went inside and checked the menu, Whoa! I'm seeing a lot of letter K and letter Rs. Although the menu has pictures and descriptions of the food, we are undecided what to order. Irwin doesn't want to order because upon seeing the menu he was reminded of his Israel days where all he can eat was pita bread, chicken, salad and lamb. I could almost hear him say "blech" and let his tongue out.

I was not with him in Israel so I'd like to try the food, I ordered Roka Pasta to share costing 380.00. I was surprised when it arrived, I thought it was a salad because there was a lot of unfamiliar leaves on top. I was about to decline it when they placed it on the table and then I saw the pasta. I was more surprised when it didn't contain any tomato sauce but only olive oil.

It tasted like Charlie Chan's Pasta at Yellow Cab because there were nuts and due to my ignorance, I tasted one of the leaves and it was very bitter, so it is not good to eat. Half of the pasta has the leaves.

We also ordered their special iced tea costing 60.00 per glass and 80.00 for refillable ice tea. It tastes different all right, I could taste some flowers in it.

We also tried HTIPITI costing 105.00. It was pita bread with blue cheese with baked green pepper. A little spicy combined with the salty taste of the cheese. Together with the pasta, we could not finish eating it, we were already full with the pasta maybe because of the olive oil, in tagalog "nakakasuya".

Maybe the Greek food was designed for dieters so they could only eat a little. There were still a lot of main menu and appetizers if ever you happen to try this restaurant. Minimum cost per order would be 150.00 and it is good for two naman.

Other guests only tried their salad, one order costs 280 and the bigger size costs 380 a difference of 100 pesos.

Since it was my birthday, I was the only woman in the room with flowers, nope it did not come from Cyma but from Irwin.

Palawan Travelogue: Badjao Seafood Restaurant

I've been receiving some emails on our travel to Palawan and I haven't uploaded all the pictures and the told all the stories yet. Now, that I am craving for food I cannot help but remember the tasty food served in Puerto Princesa.

These photos are taken in Badjao Seafood Restaurant, it was a restaurant situated near mangroves beside the water. It is like Gerry's Grill located near the waters.

The ambience is airy, cool fresh air coming from the sea, but they must have forgotten to change the curtains because the smell of the sea stays in the curtain. A little bad. a little seafood smell. Maybe because I have sensitive smell because I am pregnant.

The servings are enough for 2-3 servings, very fresh and they cooked it well, the tempura tastes good too and the calamares. The sweet and sour lapu lapu tastes a little bland. I was expecting it to taste better than the Man Hann sweet and sour.
We also ordered kinilaw, crispy pata and bulalo though I have no photos of them.

If You Are In Need of Better Caring or Nursing Homes

I know a lot of people who work in a nursing home, they have a lot of stories to tell. Mostly they take care of elderly people, feed them, assist and even entertain them. I think that people working in nursing homes should have an intrinsic care for the elders. Treating them like adults and not as someone invalid or very dependent Some of them after all are not too old yet or too sick yet that they cannot take care of themselves.

They should also have a knowledge on the common diseases and disorders of the elderly like Alzheimer's disease, rheumatism, dementia, hypothermia, pneumonia, heart problem and several others.

They should also have a lot of prepared activities for them to keep them occupied. There is music, dancing, art works, yoga, exercises, cooking lessons, painting and acting too.

Usually a nursing home is situated in a large place where there is tranquility and peace. Somewhere close to nature. Somewhere where you can relax and feel at home.

I Am Your Brother, Your Best Friend Forever by Renaldo Lapuz

Recently watched the American Idol and this contestant caught my fancy, he speaks and looks like a Filipino. I haven't seen his name yet. But I can tell that he is a Filipino, he has that sound, Tagalog sound that you and me are familiar with. He wears this costume that he looks like a bird, so some call him the "Birdman".
I do not know what motivates him to join, maybe he wants to be famous.
In fact he is already famous, he already has his own website. They are selling shirts already. Another one of instant celebrity.

Hamburger, Barbeque, Steaks and Gas Grills

Wow! Imagine having your own gas grill where you can cook your favorite hamburgers, steaks and barbeque straight from your kitchen. I often see this scene in American movies, where they held barbeque days and serve large portions of steak and barbeque. Just thinking about it makes me want to buy one. I remember when we ate at House of Minis and we ordered steak, I wonder if they have a gas grill in their kitchen. Who among the best restaurant offers great tasting steak? Is it because of the marinade, the sauce, the quality of the beef, secret recipe and spices or is it also because of the grills that they use?
We may be familiar with an ordinary hamburger grills like the one that is used in Burger machine right? Yes it is a stainless steel grill. Yes the taste maybe acceptable but wait till you taste something that has been cooked from a different stainless steel grill.

Gas grills can be very expensive, it can be taken as an investment, these grills occupy a lot of room and preferably this is placed outside the house. This is very convenient for American homes. My friend in Australia has a gas grill and they really use it outside the house like the backyard. I saw a picture of them cooking steaks, and my oh my, what a Big steak.

So in case you have a lot of money to spend, try visiting this site where you can compare prizes of gas grills and smokers. It also has a review and a comparison of prizes for the gas grills that you want to buy.
In case you have the urge to spend money on gas grill

People Say I Am Going to have a Baby Boy

Just because I looked different and puffed out,
Do not tell me that my baby is going to be a boy,
Just tell me straight that I do not look good and
That I look fat.

People used to say that I am going to have a girl,
because nothing has changed and I do not look pregnant.
But Christmas and New Year has passed,
and I rested and relaxed and never looked at myself in a mirror.

I turned into a very pregnant lady.
Because I do not feel good,
I tried to change the style of my hair.
I had a haircut.
It was a bad haircut.
I looked even uglier.

I do not want to get out of the house.
I want to schedule another hair appointment.
I feel bad.
But I am getting over it.

Do not tell me my baby is going to be a boy,
No one knows for sure, not the Chinese Calendar,
not you not anyone.
Sex is determined at conception.
Did you get a peep at my baby's XY Chromosomes?
How fortunate for you, you better start
putting a booth at Quiapo.

If you cannot tell me directly that I am ugly,
do not say anything at all.

Reminiscing Our Wedding

New year makes you plan ahead, new year also makes you look back, when you look back you want to remember the things that makes you happy the most. One of the memorable occasion in a married woman is her wedding. I have a happy wedding so maybe I will write it in my blog, because blogging is one thing I do almost everyday so I can also see my wedding memories in this blog.

Philippine Star June 5, 2005

Our venue was in Greenmeadows Clubhouse and it was catered by Robert Camba Catering. The venue was full packed, it can accommodate up to 300 guests and we initially have 275 on our list and the guests were more than 300. The wedding turned into a fiesta and I am happy that everyone enjoyed themselves.

Mimi and Karl was our photographers. Imagine, way back in 2005 our package only costs 28,000!!! They won the recent 2007 W@w Supplier of the Year Award. Congrats to Mimi and Karl, After two years, I'm sure they have improved on their skills, built more satisfied customers, upgraded their equipment and enhanced their styles. After seeing their photographs now, we never failed to wonder and joke, "practice lang ata yung sa amin".

My bouquet was prepared by Angelic Blooms. I was not able to preserve my flowers. sayang, keep it in memory na lang. I think Angelic Blooms has closed, it is nowhere to be found in wedding directories or they changed their name.

Our makeup artists was Eddie Bruan and staff, well, I was not an Eddie Bruan bride though much to my regret, never mind this is one area of my wedding that I do not want to discuss.

Wedding Preps at Dusit Hotel Nikko, my sistah in law works there.

Linoi Haute Couture designs my gown, this is a real bargain, my gown only costs eight thousand pesos!

Nuestra Senora de Gracia in Guadalupe.

Alex Franco Cakes.

Jodie and Angel of Perfect Moments.

I got this tag from Jeanne

*Start Copy Here*

When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions we seem to fall into four categories:
1) quite serious about them,
2) be flippant about them,
3) do it because we feel pressured to, or
4) do not do them. So, the purpose of this little game is to let us know which category you are in.

Copy from "*Start Copy Here*" through "*End Copy Here*" and post it. Before "*End Copy Here*" tell us who you are, your site(s) (with link) and your New Year’s Resolution, or not.
Then tag as many others as you like, from one to your entire blogroll, your choice.
If you like, create an intro paragraph to your post that also acknowledges who tagged you.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS:

Jeanne - The Callalily Space - My resolutions are to have more time with my daughter, so doing only parttime job, have more rest in my life, keep healthy. That was the important things, there are another things that i want to reach in 2008, i have so many plans...

Juliana – Juliana's Site - My New Year's resolutions are looking for a part time job, keep blogging, and learn to cook and bake.

Michelle - Rusin Roundup - 1. Learn to be happier and accept myself for who I am, 2. Is to lose about 25 lbs., and 3. Is to stop smoking.

Karen - Grow Rich Along With Me - My resolution for next year is to achieve $3K per month passive income by the end of 2008.

Mel - Attitude, the Ultimate Power & Complain Complain Complain - “I don’t need no stinking resolutions.” I never hold to them anyway so why frustrate myself by starting them now.

Sandee - Comedy Plus - I don't need no stinking resolutions either. Years and years ago I did them because everyone else did, but not once did I follow through. Why set yourself up for failure?

Lynda - lynda's loft - My resolution is to see resolve to that which needs resolution. Like Mel and Sandee, I feel that resolutions give us more stress, however, being a person who sets goals each year, isn't that the same thing as a resolution??? Goals vs. resolutions? Goals are more general and allow for more time to complete them, a resolution requires a mind-set and immediate action, which is not always feasible... Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

Amelia - Amel's Realm - This is a list of my New Year's Resolution:
1. Health: Continue exercising twice a week, eat enough veggies and fruit, have enough rest, take vitamin C regularly and women's multivitamin during my period.
2. Spiritual: Improve my Daily Bread reading routine and my prayer life and learn more from God's Word.
3. Financial: Continue to make money online (my goal is getting €100 per month at least), be more creative in writing posts, and save most of the money.
4. General Life: Continue to learn Finnish AND practice it as best and often as I can, try out more baking and cooking recipes, continue to maintain and share positive thoughts, continue to learn to control my thoughts, continue to learn to catch myself before I start complaining and count my blessings instead, continue to stop and cherish all the little moments in life that oftentimes go unnoticed, and continue to feed my inner child and last but not least, continue to ENJOY my life thoroughly.

Max - MAX - My New Year's resolutions are to dedicate more time to my friends; to finally be able to read "Der Spiegel" in German; to be calm when organizing my marriage; to go one last time to my favourite club and dance the night away; and continue to be happy!

Eric - Speedcat Hollydale - I love chicken. Problem is that I really never get to have enough chicken! My New Year's resolution is to enact "Chicken Tuesday". On this day I will eat only chicken, blog about chicken, and promote chickens all over the world. (hormone free) Join me, won't you?

Marzie - Mariuca & Mariuca's Perfume Gallery - My resolution for 2008 is to enjoy a healthier lifestyle and to expand my Perfume Collection.

Sindi- Life Is A Roller Coaster - My resolution is to complain less, pray more and be a little more thankful for what I have.

Judy - Sugar Queen's Dream - My New Year's resolution is:To take better care of my health. To eat better, well at least 3 meals a day, I'm lucky these days if I stop for one meal a day....To help make the world a better place to live, I love the human race, but think there’s always room for change. To be generous until it hurts. To live each day as if it's my last.To make a book of our personal family recipes and traditions for each of my 3 my children, so that the traditions and family cooking can be passed on in my family line long after I'm gone and finally.......To help more with the local Human society, Animals like little kids can not fend for themselves so it's up to each of us to take care of our pets and to step in and care for all animals.....I hope that through me I can encourage my Children to be better adults and in turn to raise the Children they have or will have, to be good people with good, sound & solid values.... Peace!

Resto Review: House of Minis at Ugong, Pasig

First time I ate here at this branch was three years ago on Valentine's Day with Irwin. We ordered steak and I was not impressed with the service and the table linens were soiled. Yesterday, my family and I went here because they want to try the food, we were thinking of eating at San Jacinto but choose this instead. The same building, the same structure, nothing was changed. The linens are still green and maroon and soiled. Some have cigarette burns in the table linens.

So we ordered Fillet Mignon, Tenderloin Tips, Grilled Porkchop with apple sauce, Beef Spare Ribs, Chicken Barbeque and Hawaiian Style Porkchop. All the orders includes soup of the day, dinner rolls, salad and dessert. Each order cost around Php 205.00 to Php 290.00.

By the way, we even saw Amy Perez at a nearby table, I wonder if they also ordered steak and if the cook will cook it differently if you are a celebrity???

I originally ordered the Hawaiian Style Porkchop and my brother ordered the Hawaiian Ham Steak, I changed my order to Beef Spareribs but the waiter failed to change my order and still ordered the Hawaiian Style Porkchop, Well, I guess it was also my fault because I was not listening when he tried to change my order and also his fault because he took for granted our orders, he got confused with the orders and failed to repeat our orders.

DO NOT order the Hawaiian Style Porkchop, it is full of ketchup on top of grilled porkchops. The Fillet Mignon and Tenderloin Tips tastes the same, the Beef Spareribs that I ordered has half beef fat and we take it out so our dogs can enjoy eating it. My sister ordered the Tenderloin Tips, I do not like the Beef Spareribs so we switched food, I also do not like the Tenderloin Tips but I like the fried potato that goes with it.

I enjoyed eating the soup and dinner rolls though, maybe I was not so hungry that's why the food did not taste great. The salad, looks like coleslaw and the dessert is vanilla ice cream. I like the apple sauce.

We should have eaten at Italianni's instead.

Shih Tzu Cassie Gave Birth to Four Puppies

Can't update my blog, have to be a midwife for a while assisting my pet giving birth to her new puppies yesterday at 5:30 am. We had her x-rayed at Animal Care Specialist to count the number of puppies that she has. From the x-ray it showed that she will have 5 puppies but the x-ray beam was not very clear because she was pregnant and they adjusted the rays. That was aroung 8:30 pm of December 30. The vet told us that she is ready to give birth anytime because one puppy was already in position in her cervix. We saw the xray. We went to our parents house to get a supply of newspaper and cardboard boxes. Irwin prepared the boxes for Cassie that night and Cassie was alredy looking for a place to give birth. She is almost ready, we hoped that she will not give birth that night, fortunately, she give birth the next morning. Irwin saw her edging herself at a corner already panting and having contractions.
WE placed her in the box and after a few minute with lights still out, she give birth to her first born. It was a female and it was very big and strong. I was excited seeing the new puppy, Irwin tied the umbilical cord with dental floss and tried to stimulate the puppy by rubbing it or letting Cassie wipe out the placenta and other stuff. The next baby came out after 7 minutes and the next two at an interval of 30 minutes. It was finished after an hour. we were very happy and tired and proud for our newest member of family. Thank God Cassie survived her first birthing, we really pray that Cassie will have enough milk to feed her babies.
