This study is grounded in the social exchange theory. The present study aims to investigate employee engagement's intervening role in the relationship between person-organization fit and turnover intention of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in Metro Manila, Philippines. The participants were identified using a purposive sampling technique from BPO employees (n = 302). Quantitative research and a predictive-causal approach were used to measure interrelationships among constructs, and partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to estimate the parameters of the structural model. The findings revealed that person-organization fit and employee engagement significantly and negatively affect turnover intention. Moreover, a significant and positive relationship between person-organization fit and employee engagement was also observed. Employee engagement was also found to significantly and negatively mediate between person-organization fit and turnover intention. Future research includes developing a study comparing BPO companies to other industries based on the three latent variables used in this undertaking.

Experiential Learning and Job Satisfaction of Students in a Technological University in the Philippines

Here is a copy of the abstract of my latest research.

Preparing our students for future work roles is a critical component of any work-based learning like the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and cooperative education (COE) program. The supervisor's role, the location and atmosphere of the training site, interpersonal relationships, and a variety of other factors all contribute to a student’s training program's effectiveness. Using a mixed-method approach, this study aimed to examine 75 undergraduate students' learning experiences, personal evaluations, and satisfaction in their skills training. A focus group discussion was conducted, and a researcher-made questionnaire was developed to assess the students’ perceived skills as well as the process, location, training materials, and supervision of the training site. Students had a positive workplace learning in terms of the COE procedure, the environment and accessibility of the site, their cognitive, behavioral, and social learning experiences, their attitude toward their supervisor and coordinator, and their evaluation of training, according to the findings. In the focus group discussion, participants discussed issues that arose during their workplace learning experiences such as time management, interpersonal conflict, accessibility of the training site, and the COE process. The findings suggest that the training institution can provide high-quality and satisfactory training programs for undergraduate students. Curriculum review and pre-service seminars were proposed as interventions.

Cheonsa Collagen Hyaluronic Acid Creamy Cappucino

A friend gave me this Collagen coffee from Watsons. I tried drinking it and it really has a smooth mixture. I seldom drink mixed coffee because I experience palpitations whenever I drink coffee. This also gives me palpitations but looking at the ingredients of the coffee and the cost of each sachet is just too hard to resist drinking it.
It contains hyaluronic acid, gluthathione, collagen, and other anti-oxidant and anti-aging effects.

Here are some details about the ingredients of this coffee:

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin, cartilage, and synovial fluid. It is a glycosaminoglycan, which is a type of sugar molecule. HA plays an important role in keeping the skin hydrated and plump. It also helps to cushion the joints and reduce inflammation.

HA has a number of benefits for the skin, including:

Hydration: HA is a humectant, which means that it attracts and retains water. This helps to keep the skin hydrated and plump.

Reduced wrinkles and fine lines: HA can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by filling them in.

Improved skin elasticity: HA helps to improve skin elasticity by increasing the production of collagen.

Reduced inflammation: HA can help to reduce inflammation and redness on the skin.
Wound healing: HA can help to speed up the wound healing process.

HA is also beneficial for the joints. It helps to lubricate the joints and reduce friction. This can help to reduce pain and stiffness in the joints.

This is one of the reason why I like this coffee since I am experience gout-like pain in my joints and so I see drinking this as a solution.

Collagen and glutathione are two important nutrients that play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin, hair, and nails. Collagen is a structural protein that provides strength and elasticity to the skin, while glutathione is an antioxidant that protects the cells from damage.

Collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is found in the skin, bones, muscles, and connective tissues. It helps to keep the skin looking plump and youthful, and it also plays a role in wound healing.

Collagen production naturally decreases with age, which can lead to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. However, there are a number of things you can do to boost collagen production, such as eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.

Glutathione

Glutathione is a tripeptide that is produced naturally in the body. It is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the cells from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells and contribute to aging and disease.

Glutathione levels can decrease due to a number of factors, including age, stress, and exposure to toxins. Glutathione levels can also be depleted by certain medications and medical conditions.

Benefits of collagen and glutathione for skin

Improves skin elasticity and firmness: Collagen helps to keep the skin looking plump and youthful. Glutathione helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which can lead to wrinkles and fine lines.

Reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines: Collagen and glutathione can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by improving skin elasticity and firmness.

Evens out skin tone: Glutathione can help to even out skin tone by reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, such as age spots and melasma.

Brightens the complexion: Glutathione can help to brighten the complexion by reducing the appearance of dark circles and under-eye bags.

Protects the skin from sun damage: Glutathione can help to protect the skin from sun damage by neutralizing free radicals.

How to increase collagen and glutathione levels

There are a number of things you can do to increase collagen and glutathione levels, including:

Eat a healthy diet: Eating a healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to increase collagen and glutathione levels.

Exercise regularly: Exercise helps to boost collagen production and improve glutathione levels.

Get enough sleep: Sleep is essential for collagen production and glutathione regeneration.

Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can damage collagen and glutathione.

Take supplements: There are a number of supplements available that can help to increase collagen and glutathione levels.

If you are considering taking collagen or glutathione supplements, it is important to talk to your doctor first to make sure that they are safe for you.

Landers Find: Neutrogena Body Clear, Body Wash Pink Grape Fruit

I recently went to Arcovia and I bought this body wash from Neutrogena and it is on sale.
This is 70% off and is only costs around  Php 165.00.
This is an acne control body wash that claims to clear body breakouts such as those on our back, shoulders, and chest without-overdrying.

I definitely have acne on my shoulders and back and it is so embarrassing to wear sleeveless-shirts
because it is visible.

I hope this product will be true to its word as advertised.

The main ingredient for this product is salicylic acid.

Here are some main important points about SALICYLIC ACID:

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that is commonly used to treat acne. It works by exfoliating the skin, which removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores. Salicylic acid can also help to reduce inflammation and redness associated with acne.

Salicylic acid is available over-the-counter in a variety of products, including cleansers, toners, lotions, and patches. It is also available as a prescription medication.

When using salicylic acid, it is important to start with a low concentration and gradually increase the concentration as tolerated. Salicylic acid can cause dryness and irritation, so it is important to use a moisturizer as well.

Salicylic acid is generally safe for most people, but it is important to talk to your doctor before using it if you have any concerns.

Here are some additional information about salicylic acid:

Salicylic acid is also used to treat other skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema, and seborrheic dermatitis.
Salicylic acid can be used to remove warts and corns.
Salicylic acid is also used in some sunscreens to help protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays.
If you are considering using salicylic acid, it is important to talk to your doctor or dermatologist to make sure it is right for you.

Here are some safety precautions to keep in mind when using salicylic acid:

Avoid using salicylic acid on open wounds or irritated skin.
If you experience any dryness, redness, or irritation, stop using salicylic acid and talk to your doctor.
Do not use salicylic acid if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Salicylic acid is a safe and effective treatment for acne and other skin conditions. However, it is important to use it carefully and to follow the safety precautions listed above.

Validation of the Teacher Education Institution's Entrance Test Using the Rasch Model

  • Manuel Malonisio
  • Cherry Malonisio

  • Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the College Entrance Test (CET) used by a teacher education institution to assess the general and specialization knowledge of prospective students in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The Rasch model was employed to analyze the data collected from the sample of 250 test takers for the general knowledge test, 122 for specialization in English, 74 for Mathematics, 122 for science and 77 for Social Studies. The measurement analysis components including person and item reliability, unidimensionality, person-item map, fit statistics, Point Measure Correlation (PTMEA) and item local dependence were used. The study findings indicated that some test components had poor person reliability and the degree of item difficulty was higher than the students' abilities. There were also concerns about the conformity to the unidimensionality criteria, suggesting an analysis of items that might form another dimension in the constructs of the tests, although each of the items is independent. Furthermore, some items were misfitting or overfitting the Rasch model. In conclusion, the CET needs improvement to ensure its quality as a reliable and valid selection tool for the college. The study's results provide significant insights into the CET's strengths and weaknesses that can guide the test developers in revising and enhancing the CET to effectively measure the general and specialization knowledge of test takers in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

The Relationship between Erciyes, Selçuk, and Akdeniz Medical School Third-Year Students’ Learning Approaches and Their Non-attendance Attitude and Tendencies

    Journal of Medical Education

    Spring 2017; 16(2):97-108

    Abstract

Background: Non-attendance is an undesirable student behavior. Although some studies about the factors for non-attendance behavior have been carried out at medical schools, the learning approach of a student has not been studied and it can also be a factor for non-attendance. We aimed to assess the relationship between learning approaches and non-attendance attitude and tendency. Methods: This is a correlational study. 644 students registered in three medical schools were enrolled. Data were collected during May 2015. “The Revised Two Factor Learning Approach Scale”, “Non-attendance Attitude Scale” and “Non-attendance Tendency Scale” were used as data collection tools. Results: Out of 478 studied students, 10.3% mentioned that they never missed theoretical classes and 71.3% mentioned that they never missed practical classes. Sleeplessness was the most common reason for non-attendance. 45.6% of all students thought that non-attendance affected student success. The students’ mean score for deep learning was 29.5±6.1 and for superficial learning was 30.5±5.6. The mean score for non-attendance attitude scale was 54.4±12.8 and from non-attendance tendency scale was 90.5±19.6. Conclusion: Learning approach is an effective factor for attendance. As deep learning approach is adopted, tendency for non-attendance decreases and the attitude becomes positive.

Use of portable devices to measure brain and heart activity during relaxation and comparative conditions: Electroencephalogram, heart rate variability, and correlations with self-report psychological measures

    Abstract

Recent technological advancements have enabled the development of portable devices that facilitate psychophysiological measurement in ecologically valid settings. The aim of the present study was to establish normative heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), and electroencephalogram (EEG) power during relaxation and comparative conditions. Fifty healthy adult participants completed baseline psychological questionnaires and subjective ratings of relaxation while portable devices measured continuous EEG, HR, and HRV data during eyes-open (EO) and eyes-closed (EC) resting, relaxation induction, and patting a toy dog (TD). Subjective relaxation levels were higher after the relaxation and TD compared to EO and EC resting conditions. Psychophysiological indications of relaxation included higher HRV during relaxation, and higher delta, theta, and alpha power during the TD condition. EEG recorded using a portable wireless single-channel device showed frontal EC versus EO differences comparable with those reported using traditional laboratory-based EEG equipment. Additionally, alpha power was positively correlated with resilience and negatively correlated with depression, anxiety, and stress. Delta power correlated positively with subjective relaxation levels during relaxation. Overall, the results suggest that portable devices can provide valid measurements of psychophysiological activity during relaxation outside of laboratory settings. Changes in HRV and EEG waveforms reveal more information about physiological relaxation and show promise for real-world monitoring in fields of study that investigate human arousal, stress, and health.

    ABSTRACT

It is challenging for the institution to provide students with ideas about courses or programs to pursue. This study aims to propose a tool that employs multiple regression to forecast incoming college students’ courses at Notre Dame of Midsayap College. The proponents developed a prediction model based on the identified predictors and Cumulative Semestral Grade Point Average of all College of Information Technology and Engineering students from the first semester of S.Y. 2013-2014 to S.Y. 2015-2016, using the ex post facto method. The necessary variables were Entrance Exam results, High School Grade Point Average, and Cumulative Semestral Grade Point Average. Also, Pearson’s R correlation was used to determine the relationship between EE and HSGPA to CSGPA. Conclusively, this study supported the notion that EE and HSGPA considerably impact CSGPA. Additionally, the developed predictive model was

LOVE OF LABOR: A PHENOMENOLOGICAL INQUIRY OF UNPAID OVERTIME EXPERIENCED BY BPO EMPLOYEES

    ABSTRACT

The present study investigated the unpaid overtime experienced by BPO rank-and-file employees and its effect on their career growth, well-being, and labor earnings. How unpaid overtime affects the morale and productivity of employees, and how responsive the organization's policies are to their needs.  The researchers have used a phenomenological approach to achieve the study's objectives of identifying the causes and effects of the pressing issues of unpaid overtime experienced by workers. Additionally, the researchers used key informant interviews and focus group discussions in gathering the data among the participants by using an unstructured interview questionnaire to collect information and responses based on their experience with the guide questions. As such, the study found that unpaid overtime detrimentally affects the overall productivity and morale of the employees concerning their work quality in performing their job; unpaid overtime has no direct correlation with career growth; however, it has significantly affected their labor earnings and affects the well-being of the employee, numerous labor violations have been discussed and identified including miscalculation of overtime pay or salary disputes, intimidation from superior to work forcefully with overtime, and decreasing the original incentives to be received to what has been agreed upon and compromised the interest of the employees in rendering unpaid overtime work.
